Great site mate, have lived in mansfield all my life, such a shame to see this site go. Had a look around what was left of it a few days ago, basically most of it is rubble apart from the main clock tower building which is falling to pieces.

I was born in Mansfield and I now run the Cumbria Clock Company which specialises in all aspects of work connected with public clocks ( http://www.clockmaker.co.uk )
I would be more then happy to attend free of charge and without obligation and supply the relative report and quotations regarding the restoration of the clock.

I remember doing the maintainence in the 1980′s early 1990′s for Greybeam. I have some fond memories of working at MB.

I also worked as a secretary at the Sutton branch prior to which I had trained in the typing pool at Mansfield. Hello everyone,
I served my engineering apprenticeship in the second intake (1954-1959) in the Apprentice Training Centre at the bottom of the Rock Valley site overlooking the mill dam.
Remember well the Chief Instructor Jack Swift (with his bell bottom trousers) and the other Instructors, Tom Foden and Ken Bowles.
After National Service returned to the Box both at Mansfield and Sutton G/L, before moving onto the Open Top Factory at Sutton.
Was involved along with Peter Hurt in the introduction of Soudronic Welders at Sutton in 1973 and eventually spent the remainder of my time overseas with Apprentice Training and Can Making Training. Was made redundant after 42 years by Crown Cork Overseas Company. Would like to get my hands on a copy of the book by Alan Atkins.
