Princess Mary Christmas Tin

We get requests and emails all the time from people trying to track down info about old metalbox tins or memories.

This email was from an australian lady, enquiring about the Princess Mary Christmas tin – if anyone can help, drop a comment below!

Good morning, Do you have any information about how the Princess Mary Christmas tin was manufactured please? I believe Barringer Wallis and Manners were one of the companies commissioned to produce the box. I’m particularly interested in whether the box was made on a production line, or by hand, how the lid was stamped, and whether BWM also had responsibility for packing the boxes with their various contents.
Also, do you know if any of their staff records from the period 1911 – 1920 still exist and if so where they are please and where the dies used to stamp the lids might have ended up?
Thank you
A.P.
